#147 How to get it to work with HTTPS? WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major defect 02/20/2011

Hi, i need to get the translator to work with https. How would I change all resources and images to https://?

#37 Vandalism prevention? WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major enhancement 05/27/2009

I've enabled anonymous editing of translations but I'm worried about vandalism. What features does/will it have to prevent someone from editing a translated text with either random stuff or spam?

Options I think might be helpful can be

  • Emailing the admin when a translation is edited by Anonymous users, with the change implemented.
  • Allowing the admin very quickly to revert all changes coming from a specific IP (From the setting page?)

What else?

#84 Allow translation suggestions - to be later authorized WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major enhancement 01/17/2010

I think the way Transposh make available to anyone modify the translation without any restriction is not good [I am not considering the roles, because there is some cases we need a community help to do the translations], and the simple use of roles is not good enough for the case, if one bad person go and modify something to the purpose to SPAM or for Pishing, it would be hard to the Admin fix all it, mainly because the Admin dont know all the languages available, and some times we dont have the man-power to do all the work alone.

So, a good solution is, make this tool as a “suggested” translation, the suggested translation will appear in the dashboard and one Admin will check it. I mean, a sugestion system much like the one used in Google Translator.

#8 Add combining interface WordPress Plugin 1.0 - Feature Complete defect 02/16/2009

Allow the translation interface to translate a couple of segments at once, maybe by adding (add next segment) to translation interface.

I assume this will correct 99% of our parser badness.

The database can still contain the original segment with an order to get larger match.

example: שלום, עולם. שלום -> GN (get next marker) שלום, עולם -> Hello, world.

#45 Allow the translation of one word to remain independent WordPress Plugin 1.0 - Feature Complete defect 05/28/2009

Currently, when one word is translated it seems to be replicated and replacing all other such similar words on the site. However this creates a problem when one translates a text and does a more free-style translation of a section. For example, to translate some sentences from English to Greek, I need on ocassion to rework the whole sentence and for this end I will do a different translation than a 1:1. When this takes into account that some "translation parts" are single words, this creates a problem since by translating this word in a particular form, I modify it for all other locations it might appear in.

To work around this it would require a way to mark a particular translation as somehow "independent". This would mean that the translation that happened in this case will not be replicated in other parts of the site, nor would changes in other location affect this particular translation.

#64 language search interferes with search unleashed WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major defect 12/03/2009

When language searching is enabled in .3.6 and the search unleashed plugin is installed there are problems with the search results.

Search unleashed allows the user to select from a variety of search engines under "options". The results are as follows:

default wordpress search: sql errors returned indexed search: no results mysql fulltext: no results Lucene: results appear, but many additional empty results appear with no headline and only "..." as the text

#65 translations do not contain proper punctuation Parser 1.0 - Feature Complete defect 12/03/2009

Translations are not properly modifying punctuation. For example, Spanish translated sentences that end with a ? or ! do not have a ¿ or ¡ at the beginning.

#77 Login And Register Page Translations WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major defect 01/15/2010

I would like to get the login and register page translated with the languages I choose. Is it possible?

#98 Translates the data from the Amazon and Ebay WordPress Plugin 2.0 - Far Future defect 05/07/2010

Hello

Do Transposh translates data from Amazon. That come to my home page at Amazon. http://www.herbaldepecona.com/e-medicinal-herbs. Currently, he is unable to translate these data. Ebay data as well, although they still do not run the website.

#126 Wrong abbeviation Parser 0.7 - Coming Major defect 11/12/2010

Since Version 0.6.3 I have the problem, that short names of months are not been translated, if German name is different to English name. So after upgrading to 0.6.3 or higher I see for example "Okt_Oktober_abbreviation" instead of "OKT" in my German Blog. Same with March and so on.

Wordpress: 3.01

Transposh 0.6.1 works fine without any problems. Tested with 0.6.3 till 0.6.6 - same problems. I was asking in forum of Wordpress Germany, they found out that Transposh was responsible.

I checked with disabling all plugins - so Transposh was responsible for the fault that does not look nice on my German blog.

By the way, the answer to disable "gettext" is not very helpful - I am not a PHP expert...

#136 Can I use Transposh to help me offer language based RSS feeds? WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major defect 12/29/2010

I want to offer RSS feeds of the whole site in various languages, but if I try to use, say, a feed straight from the home page, like this... http://www.f1livenews.com/de/feed/ -- some of the headlines are translated but none of the body copy. If try and develop category based feeds and I use something like this... http://www.f1livenews.com/de/Formel-1/feed/ -- you will see again some of the headlines are translated but this time some of the body copy too.

The reason I have included the two RSS feed URLs is so that you can see just how little Transposh is currently translating. Sometimes nothing at all.

#141 Suggestions for improvements in Translation Interface Parser 0.7 - Coming Major defect 01/28/2011

The current interface is not comfortable to work with:

1/ When you make a change to the translation and click next/forward you should be prompted to Save Changes / Abort Changes / Cancel

2/ When browsing next/forward, you should have an option to go only through orange/purple icons and not green ones. In a blog, for example, many of the general parts are repetitive and there's no use seeing them over and over again.

3/ The translation window should have a clear color indication of the previous state (green/orange...) so that I know current translation is human or not.

4/ There should be a next&approve mode.

Good luck :)

#208 Issues with your plugin and Google / Editing / your contact form WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major defect 01/10/2012

Hi,

as reported on Wordpress I have issues with your plugin. Using Google does not work at all (no translation) and editing content results, if clicking on save, in an server error with no helpful error message "error". In addition I asked, if logo removal is possible for a donation (I would be happy to donate), also I encountered another problem/issue: Help is anyhow missing in the plugin, so I just got linked to that restore is currently only available on request, but on how to get the community key for live backup isn't written anywhere. Also if the API keys for Google and Bing are required or not. Bing works without key, Google not.

Talking about www.heutger.net/, credentials can be provided on request.

Using your contact form is not possible, as Really Simple Catcha plugin is not installed, the form is reporting itself... ;-)

Regards, Christian

#218 reduce translations_log size? WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major defect 06/21/2012

I noticed translations_log is really big! as much as the translations table itself, an option to trim the translations_log table for every data older than a set number of days/months would be really nice, don't you think?

#220 No RSS Feed with Transposh WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major defect 06/29/2012

Hello,

We have Transposh WP-plugin install on our site http://www.basssonline.com, it's great working well and easy setup.

The problem is our RSS feeds are not working on the entire website. We worked with our host WPEngine and tuned off each plugin one by one and it seems to be the Transposh plugin causing the problem.

Wanted to know if anyone else has this problem and what the fix maybe....we love the plugin and want to keep using it.

Thanks

#223 Auto Translation Not Working WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major defect 07/17/2012

Wordpress - 3.4.1 Transposh - 0.8.3

On local WAMP server the plugins automatic translation works perfectly. On Hosting server it does nothing. Is there any specs of php.ini that needs to be enabled that I am not seeing? I have looked at the settings over and over but still do not see any difference.

Thanks

#233 Site returns 404 after selecting language (Firefox only?) WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major defect 08/30/2012

Hello,

Thanks for this great plugin! I'm having one issue with it though...if I am using Firefox and select a translation on a page, the site refreshes and gives me a 404. However, if I click on any page link, the site is translated fine. It only returns a 404 on the initial translation.

As far as I can tell, this is only happening in Firefox.

Any ideas?

#251 Url probleme Parser 0.9 - Current Major defect 01/28/2013

Hi, the plugin do not change the url. On this site http://ecleco.com/ everything is ok. But on this site https://i.ecleco.com/ I use https and Woocommerce plugins and the links from the urls with translations points to the urls of the main site (with Russian there is no problem as use multisite and separate site for this language). All the urls with translations are exists but can only be seen if I add, say, &lang=es (or /es/ inside permalinks) to the urls. Please help.

Any other ideas?

#44 Allow marking a page as "complete" and prevent further editing WordPress Plugin 1.0 - Feature Complete enhancement 05/28/2009

This is something that would only be open to an admin or an editor of the blog. Basically, there should be a checkbox somewhere (perhaps at the widget?) that would allow the admin to mark the page as fully translated. Once this is done, then editing the translation from non-admin (or non-editors) would not be possible.

This would have the benefit that it would prevent vandalism in finished pages but it could also be used for other purposes such as to show which articles have been translated for each language or to point out which languages are finished for each page.

#55 Allow translation of whole articles Parser 1.0 - Feature Complete enhancement 07/23/2009

Some volunteer translators have informed me that it would be more easy for them to be able to translate the article on a local text file and then simply replace the whole thing in one go. Is this something we can enable?

A method could be to allow someone to click on a second checkbox, once they've clicked on the "edit" one, which would be something like "Translate whole article". This would then open a textbox, where the translated content could be pasted.

This functionality should also be limited via access rights, so that perhaps only registered users will be able to do full translations (to avoid vandalism mostly)

#83 Bad Word blocklist WordPress Plugin 1.0 - Feature Complete enhancement 01/17/2010

I would like to request a blocklist of bad words for all languages, this blocklist would be used in the case a person use the “edit translation” and in case the person try to put bad words, so, the blocklist will block them to dont put bad words in the text. I just think it is a good idea. So, you will need a dictionary for all the languages, or at least the most used languages.

Having the option to block some words to be posted put some extra protection to the site, and less effort to the admin. And, for example, in case if you have a blocklist, anyone that simple try to put bad words, will be blocked, and the admin will not need to worry about moderate these. Also, there is a lot of blocklist for bad words available on the net, and simple could be used in Transposh, with the option of be enabled or not.

Well, I found many blocklists on the web, but each one have some diferent purposes, depending the subject talked on the blog, so, you could implement one or all of them, but offering the option to user choose ones that match their purpose:

http://software.informer.com/getfree-spam-block-list-dictionary-words/ http://www.spambully.com/sb4help/index591c.html http://www.pmwiki.org/wiki/PmWiki/Blocklist http://help.sixapart.com/tp/us/block_list.html http://codex.wordpress.org/Combating_Comment_Spam http://drupal.org/node/140362

For these ones, the blocklist system for wiki seems to be the most advanced because the essence of the Wiki, it is a too open tool and need a good system to block vandals.

#105 Translation Control in the Backend WordPress Plugin 1.0 - Feature Complete enhancement 06/15/2010

It is nice to have the possibility to edit the translation in the Frontend, but I would appreciate a easy handling in the backend too.

#152 Bible translation Parser 1.0 - Feature Complete enhancement 03/09/2011

I've started useing your excelent plugin, but I run into the problom that I would like to translate a whole paragraph and not word by word. E.g. text from the old testemint in Hebrew will not sound corroct if translated to English.

#168 A list of all human translations WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major enhancement 07/09/2011

I would really like a list of all human translation, like wordpress comment list in the panel. For an easy overview.

#172 Translation chunks - translating parts of paragraphs or sentences Parser 0.7 - Coming Major enhancement 08/25/2011

Hello there!

First of all, allow me to spend some words about your GREAT job: I understand it must have driven you mad :)

I would have a little suggestion for your parser, in order to let a site admin achieve a better translation.

Many languages differ from english in the way you build your sentences; so, using an automated service drives to a "bad translation" because of chunks of sentences translated literally.

I'll try to better explain myself using the following italian sentence as an example: "Un’organizzazione indipendente, che vede coinvolte alcune aziende europee leader nei settori...".

The sentence should be translated as: "An independent organization, which involves some leading European companies in the areas of..."; it instead results in: "Un'organizzazione independent, which involves some leading European companies in the areas of..."

So, in the stated case, two issues appear: 1. "Un'organizzazione" is not translated (perhaps because of the single quote, quite used in Italian to elide the final vocal of the article "una" when followed by a word starting with a vocal - like "una organizzazione -> un'organizzazione", "una opera -> un'opera", etc.); 2. independent is related to "Un'organizzazione", but is presented as a "single-word-segment".

Hoped I could correct these kind of cases manually, but here comes a trouble with the parser: it selects segments to be translated on its own basis, and I could not find a way to let it understand that "Un'organizzazione indipendente" should be treated as a whole segment.

It would be wonderful (and I might hope not a big-job to deal with) if I could wrap "chunks" of text in a "span" element with a particular class (let's say "trposh_chunk") and the parser would recognize it and keep the words together when prompting for translation.

So, for example, in the above stated case I could write my page as follows: <span class="trposh_chunk">Un’organizzazione indipendente,</span> che vede coinvolte alcune aziende europee leader nei settori...

I believe this is a way to solve many of the problems I've red about translation accuracy.

Hope to have helped somehow.

TY for your great job, again!

Pierluigi

#97 Support Translation on 3rd party plugin Ajax/JQuery call Parser 1.0 - Feature Complete defect 04/13/2010

When a plugin (other than Transposh) does an Ajax or JQuery call, the text is not being translated by Transposh.

Suggestion: Hook into callback on WP Ajax calls? And/or keep track of the translated elements in the html?

#41 A way to show all the available fully translated articles WordPress Plugin 1.0 - Feature Complete enhancement 05/27/2009

I would like to have a way to create a page that will list all the articles that have been manually translated (or have a high "green" percentage. This way, I can point, say, all my Greek visitors to a page where they can find articles they can read.

The best way to do this would be to allow a php call that would return all articles that have over a particular percentage of "green" sentences. And the percentage could even be provided by the call like <?php list_trans(el, 90); ?> or somesuch.

This would then allow this template to be placed anywhere from the sidebar to its own page.

#52 Mangling flag images WordPress Plugin 2.0 - Far Future enhancement 06/10/2009

By Julian - opened ticket

I want to change the flag for english from US to GB. I worked out how to do it in the code on the constants.php

I changed line; $languages = array(”en” => “English,us,1″, to $languages = array(”en” => “English,gb,1″,

This works fine but obviously it reverts back to US after an upgrade.

I think it would be nice to be able to change it in the gui if at all possible.

Many thanks.

#54 Provide log purging capability WordPress Plugin 2.0 - Far Future enhancement 07/20/2009

I'd like options to, for example:

Don't log auto-translations (or "log only manual translations") Purge log entries older than X days/weeks/months And so forth

I've done auto-translation on all of my site's content into 40-some languages. This leaves me with a translations_log table of around 30MB, almost none of which I care about.

#56 Allow to turn off auto-translate on a per-language or per-article basis Parser 1.0 - Feature Complete enhancement 07/23/2009

On some particularly difficult languages (Greek, German etc) the Google autotranslation seems to be doing more harm than good. However it can be useful in general.

It would be good if there was capability to avoid this. One option would be to allow the admin to turn off autotranslate functionality for specific languages (this would be done from the config panel)

The other option would be to allow the translator to switch off the autotranslation before editing, this could be for example an alternative "edit" checkbox which when checked will put the article into edit mode but retain the original language it was written in rather than the autotranslation.

#60 moderation of translation changes by user role WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major enhancement 11/20/2009

It would be nice to allow users of a certain level (such as anonymous or contributors) to be able to make changes and have them appear via ajax, but hold them from the public until approved by a user that is in a level authorized to moderate changes.

This could be implemented by listing changes in the backend with a checkbox for individual/mass approval or rejection similar to wordpress comments and could appear with a different color edit icon on the frontend for moderators (for example, currently orange is used and green signifies it has been changed, red or purple could be used to show that it has been modified but is not visible publicly.

Similar but no the same as: http://trac.transposh.org/ticket/37

#78 Other Translation Engines WordPress Plugin 1.0 - Feature Complete enhancement 01/15/2010

It would be interesting to have some other translation engines implemented on Transposh. It will give more one option for translation engine if one or other of the current implemented translation engines get offline. It will have some other purposes, for example:

  • More different language pairs for translation;
  • If one word dont get translated in on translation engine, there is the possibility to use another engine, and it will give a good result on the end text.

Here is a list of some translation engines and their links:

-Reverso http://www.reverso.net/ -Free Translation and Professional Translation Services from SDL International http://www.freetranslation.com/ -ToggleText? http://www.toggletext.com/ -WorldLingo? http://www.worldlingo.com/products_services/worldlingo_translator.html -ForeignWord? http://www.foreignword.com/Tools/transnow.htm -Translated http://free.translated.net/ -Pars Translator[scientific and technical field] http://www.parstranslator.net/eng/translate.htm -IMTranslator http://free-translation.imtranslator.com/ -Lionbridge iTranslator http://itranslator.lionbridge.com/bgsx/BGSXeng_us-EntryPage.htm -LinguaWeb? http://www.linguamatix.com/linguaweb/ -PSMT http://psmt.sourceforge.net/ -ReTranslator? http://prague.tv/toys/retrans/ Babelfish -Comprendium[social and technical fields] http://www.translendium.net:8080/home/index.jsp?locale=en -Transparent http://www.transparent.com/ -Applied Language http://www.appliedlanguage.com/

#81 "Dont Translate" Word List WordPress Plugin 2.0 - Far Future enhancement 01/17/2010

So I am having problem with some words being translated, like names of places, name of people, and some other words that dont need to be translated, and, just wrap the words with the no_translate class as mentioned in the FAQ is not enough for the case I am working, that I need to deal to 500, 1000 or even 2000 posts at the same time. So, I suggest the implementation of a “dont translate list”.

I would like to see the possibility of using this feature when the word I dont want to translate is used in many places, and it is just impossible to use what was proposed and described in FAQ.

#82 Spell-Checking Functions and Dictionaries. WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major enhancement 01/17/2010

Would be good to have a spell-checker, to be used in a text before and after a translation, because there maybe appear some strange or malformed translation because a wrong word.

My idea about the implementation of this is to use the spellchecker automatically to “catch” where on all posts are wrong words or text inconsistency. My idea is to use this feature for mass edition. I dont want to, for example, re-edit all my old posts to check if there are any wrong word, and if these wrong words be translated, it will give me problems, because it will be translated wrongly. And there is the case of wrong word generated by the translation engine from a good spelled text. How I will deal with some thousands of wrong words?

Because the mass posting I need to do, the propose is to spell-check all pages before and after the translation and put a message on dashboard warning the admin about wrong or bad spelled words found in the original page and in the translated page. So, the admin would click on the link and he will be redirected to the page that have the problem and will use the front-end editor in case the problem is in translation, and in case the problem is in the original text, he would be redirected on the normal wordpress editor. I think it is a good use for front-end editor.

For the spellchecker I found these ones: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries http://kb.mozillazine.org/Spellchecker.dictionary http://dictionary.reference.com/ http://blog.chromium.org/2009/02/spell-check-dictionary-improvements.html http://aspell.net/

I think that the best ones are the Aspell and the OpenOffice? dictionaries.

#92 Per-language translation engine preferences WordPress Plugin 1.0 - Feature Complete enhancement 02/09/2010

It would be nice to have the ability to select the primary translation engine on a language-by-language basis and to make it possible to disable automatic translation for a particular language since some languages are translated better than others with a particular engine.

#93 manual addition of unsupported language WordPress Plugin 1.0 - Feature Complete enhancement 02/09/2010

It would be great if unsupported languages could be manually added so that manual translation can be done. I believe there was also a ticket to allow editing of a translated post in the backend (so more than one phrase can be edited at a time, although I cannot find the ticket # now), and it would probably not make sense to implement this before that feature or something similar is available.

Also, the addition of translation engines for languages in the future should be considered; we either need the ability for users to map their language definition to a new language or stick to requiring some sort of recognized naming convention for the manual languages that are added by end users.

For example, I have a client that would like Pashto support, but it is not currently supported by translation engines.

#103 Language in the subdomain WordPress Plugin 1.0 - Feature Complete enhancement 06/15/2010

Country code as a subdomain.

#129 Redirecting of non existing URLs Parser 0.7 - Coming Major enhancement 11/23/2010

When url rewriting is enabled in the plugin, it's possible to insert any combination of two alphabetic chars instead of a language (eg. en) and the default language site appears. The url is marked as canonical url to the default language, but won't be redirected by a 301.

It could be better if the user can decide, if he wants a canonical tag or a permanent redirect by 301, in the admin. Maybe it's takes advantage on passing thru the linkpower and solves duplicate content problems. All in all it should be the cleaner technical solution.

#132 Avoid translating some tags and categories WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major enhancement 12/04/2010

It would be really useful to be able to avoid translating certain tags and categories that might be, for example proper names, or might be a music genre like acid jazz which is already commonly used in many languages.

#181 Allow translate URLs with Bing WordPress Plugin 0.7 - Coming Major enhancement 11/10/2011

I think the option "translate URLs" experimental, works only with google translator, but I think that now, as google translator is near bloked, the use of bing translator in this feature may be usefull.

Please, activate it, or put an option of select translator engine for URL, or tell me how to change manualy the engine.

Thanks
